About the Information Strategy
The Information Strategy is designed to address the responsibility for the Commission to:- Report on the state of safety and quality in health care;
- Lead and coordinate in the development and dissemination of data standards for safety and quality;
- Actively engage in the national e-health agenda to optimise safety and quality within clinical systems development; and
- Actively engage in the e-health agenda to optimise secondary uses of health information to improve safety and quality in health care.
In addition, the Information Strategy provides health information support for other Commission programs, including Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI), Medication Safety and Clinical Handover.
The Commission’s Information Strategy is built around five work streams:
- National reporting and indicators
- Health information standards for safety and quality
- A patient safety measurement and reporting model
- Safety in E-Health
- Clinical quality registries
