RFT 029/0809 - Open Disclosure Research and Indicator Development Including the ‘100 Patient Stories Project’

Applications are sought from from capable and experienced individuals or organisations to research patients’ experiences of open disclosure. This will include interviewing one hundred patients, filming documentary quality appropriate educational stories from consenting patients, developing survey instruments to enable the study of patient and staff experiences of open disclosure and developing patient centred indicators of successful open disclosure.

This project has been developed as part of an overall strategy to support and encourage health care staff and facilities to undertake open disclosure in ways that are most effective for patients.

It is proposed that work commence in September 2008.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care is hosted by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and has offices located in Sydney.
