Dr Jenny Firman is the Department of Health and Ageing’s representative on the National Hand Hygiene Advisory Committee. She was appointed as Medical Advisor to the Surveillance Branch of the Office of Health Protection (OHP) at the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) in November 2007. She had a long career as a full time medical officer in the Royal Australian Navy transferring to the Naval Reserve in 2002 after 22 years. She then was appointed as the first Chief Medical Officer for Defence Force Recruiting until her appointment in OHP in 2007. In addition to her duties in DoHA she continues regular part time general practice.
