Karin Thursky is an Infectious Diseases Physician with appointments at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, St Vincent Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH). Since 1999 she has been a Clinical Research Fellow at the RMH developing Computerised Decision Support Systems and other applications for antimicrobial use and clinical guidelines. She completed a Doctorate of Medicine in 2006 for her work on a successful pilot in the intensive care unit that significantly improved antibiotic use. She is a clinical leader for the Guidance Project team at the RMH with Kirsty Buising. Her other area of interest and publications is infection in the immunocompromised host.
