National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards

The Commission developed the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards to improve the quality of health service provision in Australia. The NSQHS Standards provide a nationally consistent statement of the level of care consumers can expect from health service organisations.

The NSQHS Standards were endorsed by Australian Health Ministers in September 2011.

Safety and quality improvement guides

The Safety and Quality Improvement Guides are designed to assist health service organisations align their quality improvement programs using the framework of the NSQHS Standards. The guides outline key tasks, implementation strategies and examples of of the outputs of improvement processes.

Accreditation workbooks and specialist guides

The accreditation workbooks and specialist guides have been developed for individuals within health service organisations who are responsible for coordinating accreditation processes. This may include quality managers or health managers who are responsible for supporting improvement activities and collating the outcomes of improvement processes to provide evidence for accreditation.
