Testing and validating the Draft Operating Principles and Technical Standards
In 2010, Health Ministers endorsed the Commission’s tested and validated Operating Principles and Technical Standards for Clinical Quality Registries. In 2014, the Commission developed the Framework for Australian Clinical Quality Registries which incorporated the endorsed Operating Principals and Technical Standards (the Framework).
History of draft operating principles and technical standards
The Commission worked with the Centre of Research Excellence in Patient Safety at Monash University to draft national operating principles, and the National E-Health Transition Authority to draft technical standards and related documents.
Operating principles evaluation results
A public consultation on the the draft operating principles and technical standards was held and six registries also tested and validated the resources.
Each of these registries developed a report on the results of this testing, and these provide insights into the application of the framework:
The results of the testing were also summarised by an external evaluation report (PDF 2934 KB).
The operating principles and technical standards were subsequently revised, endorsed by Ministers in 2010, and incorporated into the Framework for Australian clinical quality registries.
