The Commission has recently commenced work focused on recognising and responding to deterioration in mental state in Australian hospitals.
A scoping review of policy and practice relating to recognising and responding to deterioration in mental state is now available.
The findings of this review will inform the development of new work to improve the safety and quality of care for people who experience acute deterioration in their mental state.
The review process involved a review of the literature and a series of focus groups and interviews with consumers, carers, healthcare professionals, managers and executives.
