The Commission is seeking a Medical Advisor to undertake work across different Commission programs, provide expert clinical advice within the Commission and to external agencies and government departments, and form productive working relationships with relevant stakeholders about the work of the Commission.

Description

The Medical Advisor, Digital Health reports to the Commission’s Chief Medical Officer and will:

  • Work with other Medical Advisors regarding Commission activities
  • Liaise with relevant Program Directors to support the Commission’s activities that relate to digital health.

The successful Candidate will have:

  1. Registration as a Medical Practitioner the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) – essential.
  2. High level knowledge and skills related to related to safety and quality, and governance in digital health.
  3. Demonstrated experience in managing projects and delivering key results by drawing on professional expertise and supporting others to act.
  4. Proven capacity to develop strategy and provide high level technical advice to government on the design, implementation and evaluation of policies and programs related to relevant areas of safety and quality in health care.
  5. A comprehensive understanding of Australia’s healthcare system including the development and application of national approaches to safety and quality in health care.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with stakeholders combined with the ability to work effectively with internal staff at all levels.
  7. Highly developed oral and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to prepare high level briefing documents and submissions, present publicly to large audiences, and explain complex technical issues simply.

The successful candidate will be engaged via contract for a period of 9 months.
