Senior Project Officer, Affirmative Measure - Indigenous

The Commission is seeking to offer either an ongoing employment opportunity or a secondment opportunity (for 12 months), as a Senior Project Officer in the National Standards program.

The Senior Project Officer will be responsible for leading the work on assigned work plan deliverables and the development of resources and will be required to contribute to broader activities to support the National Standards Program. This will include undertaking research and analysis of information, project management, policy development, stakeholder management, facilitation of meetings, preparation of project documentation and collaborating with other relevant programs within the Commission. The Senior Project Officer will also provide strategic advice and insights into the health, lived experiences, and needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in consideration of Commission health projects.

This position provides a unique opportunity for the right person to make a difference to health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally and their communities in a supportive organisation.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Highly developed research, strategic analysis, interpretation, and excellent writing skills.
  • Highly developed project management skills and experience, including a sound ability to manage multiple priorities, recognise common links, identify and manage risks and align key objectives
  • A high level of knowledge of the Australian healthcare system and government policy context and a comprehensive understanding of safety and quality in health care including those related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their communities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to cultivate positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • A professional, positive, strategic and solutions-focused approach to work
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders in government, private and community-controlled sectors.
