Update 23 provides data submitted to CARAlert for the reporting period 1 May 2021 to 30 June 2021to support prevention and containment of antimicrobial resistance.

This latest CARAlert Data Update includes data submitted to CARAlert between 1 March 2021 and 30 April 2021. This update provides useful information to support prevention and containment of antimicrobial resistance.

This issue includes items on COVID-19, sepsis, acute behavioural disturbance antimicrobial prescribing, antimicrobial stewardship, dementia, pathology, stakeholder/consumer engagement, adverse drug events, medication safety, Clostridioides difficile, patient safety in prehospital care, and more.

The Highlights Report provides an overview of the key messages of AURA 2021 and a summary of highlights from selected chapters. 

Chapter 16 of the AMS Book highlights issues related to antimicrobial use in the community and in residential aged care and describes infections experienced by older people and strategies to improve antimicrobial prescribing and use. 

The Australian Group on Antimicrobial Resistance (AGAR) monitors AMR, epidemiologic and genetic patterns in bloodstream infections in Australia relating to three main organisms: Staphylococcus aureus, enterococcal species and gram-negative organisms. The 2020 AGAR Sepsis Outcome Programs Report provides analyses of data on AMR associated with episodes of bacteraemia, reported by 30 laboratories servicing 49 public and private institutions across Australia in 2020.

The Consumer Summary provides an overview of the key findings and messages of AURA 2021 for consumers.

The CARAlert Annual Report for 2020 is now available.

Update 25 provides data submitted to CARAlert for the reporting period 1 September to 31 October 2021 to support prevention and containment of antimicrobial resistance.

The 2019 Hospital NAPS report includes analyses of detailed information about prescribing practices in Australian public and private acute hospitals in 2019. The findings can be used to guide quality improvement programs and improve the safety of care for patients.

This report provides supplementary data relevant to Chapter 4 of AURA 2021 - Antimicrobial resistance.

This report provides an update on data submitted to CARAlert for the reporting period 1 January 2021 to 28 February 2021, and complements previous analyses and updates of CARAlert data, and the CARAlert 2020 Annual Report.
