This document is a revision of the Recommendations for Terminology, Abbreviations and Symbols used in the Prescribing and Administration of Medicines (2011). The revision is based on reported adverse events and international trends in error-prone abbreviations. This document aligns with information outlined in the National guidelines for the on-screen display of clinical medicines information.

The Hip Fracture Care Clinical Care Standard and accompanying resources were first launched in September 2016. This document is now superseded by the 2023 revised Hip Fracture Clinical Care Standard.

This report by the Sub-Committee on Best-Practice Pricing and Clinical Quality Information (the Sub-Committee) was endorsed by the Joint Working Party on Pricing for Safety and Quality in Australian Public Hospitals (JWP) of the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (the Commission) on 29 June 2015.
