These guidelines are intended for those developing, assessing, procuring and implementing IT systems for medication management and electronic prescribing to:

• Understand how design contributes to patient safety
• Apply the recommendations during software development and iteration
• Evaluate systems during procurement

The Labelling Standard is designed to reduce the risk of patient harm from injectable medicines by helping healthcare professionals identify the correct injectable medicine or fluid (container), route of administration of the injectable medicine (conduit) and patient for whom the medicine is intended.

The electronic tool is designed to measure use of the pre-printed NIMC VTE prophylaxis section safety elements. It can be used to collect pre-implementation and post-implementation audit data, and report on audit data.

The User Guide has been developed to provide information on how to conduct an audit of the NIMC VTE prophylaxis section, and how to use the Excel audit and reporting tool. 

This medication skills assessment is intended for nursing and care staff in residential aged care facilities (RACFs) who deliver medicine/s to residents using the National Residential Medication Chart (NRMC).
