This Instrument of Approval for PBS Hospital Medication Charts was signed on 30 October 2019 by Thea Daniel, Assistant Secretary, Pricing and PBS Policy Branch, Technology Assessment and Access Division, Department of Health.

This medication skills assessment is intended for nursing and care staff in residential aged care facilities (RACFs) who deliver medicine/s to residents using the National Residential Medication Chart (NRMC). 

This discussion paper was drafted to support public consultation on the use of opioid analgesics in emergency departments, perioperative and surgical services. The Commission was also interested in learning more about education and training for prescribers of opioid analgesics. Feedback from this consultation was used to inform the development of a National Opioid Analgesic Stewardship Program.

To clarify the requirements for the transition between the 2017 Preventing and Controlling Healthcare-Associated Infection Standard of the National Safety and Quality Health Services (NSQHS) Standards and the 2021 Preventing and Controlling Infections Standard.

The public consultation for the Guiding principles to achieve continuity in medication management is open until 11:59 AEDT Monday, 20 December 2021. A consultation paper has been developed to guide you through the proposed recommendations for updating the Guiding Principles.

A Topic Working Group was convened to provide advice to the Commission on this project. The group comprised individuals with relevant expertise in delirium, representatives of key stakeholder organisations as well as a consumer representative.

The purpose of this advisory is to describe the requirement for accrediting agencies to submit an annual declaration relating to conflicts of interest.

Quality Use of Medicines and Medicines Safety was made the 10th National Health Priority Area in 2019 by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Health Council. The Commission are developing a National Baseline Report on Quality Use of Medicines and Medicines Safety in response to this initiative. This discussion paper was published to support the public consultation which informed Phase 1 of the National Baseline Report.
