APS6 Project Officer, National Standards
The Commission is seeking a full-time, non-ongoing APS6 Project Officer, National Standards for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

The National Standards Program is responsible for the development and maintenance of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. This includes currently updating the NSQHS Standards for the third edition, providing secretariat support for related committees and undertaking national stakeholder consultations.
This program also leads the development, administration and maintenance of the Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation (AHSSQA) Scheme, providing secretariat support for the Accrediting Agencies Working Group and Regulators Working Group.
The Project Officer will work with the Program Director, Program Manager and Senior Project Officers of the program to support the development of the third edition of the NSQHS Standards and support the administration and maintenance of the AHSSQA Scheme. This work will involve project management, organising and assisting with public consultation processes, providing secretariat support to program committees, writing reports, briefings and other documents, analysing information and provision of advice on procedure and policy across the program areas.
Duties of the Project Officer will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Undertake project management activities for the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and the Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation Scheme, including input into project planning and documentation; assistance with implementation; monitoring and reporting on progress, identifying problems and proposing possible solutions.
- Collate, edit and draft meeting papers, correspondence, discussion papers, consultation materials, reports, briefing notes and other written materials associated with the program.
- Provide secretariat support for committees and expert groups, including preparation of agenda papers, meeting notes, logistics and other administrative tasks.
- Collaborate with other team members and other program teams within the Commission to support the work of the team.
- Liaise with national and state authorities, professional organisations, individuals and non-government organisations to progress the program’s work priorities.
- Support the development and administration for the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards third edition, including assisting with national stakeholder consultations.
- Support the work of the National Standards Team, which may include assistance with the Safety and Quality Advice Centre, and the broader Commission, as required.
- Other duties as required which may include projects and providing assistance to the Commission’s corporate functions, such as assistance with reception duties.
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong conceptual, analytical and research skills, including demonstrated sound judgement and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience.
- Demonstrated strong writing skills, including the ability to write high level documents including briefing papers, reports and meeting papers and notes.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively and develop productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- An understanding of Australia’s health care system and key safety and quality issues relevant to the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
