Information for consumers regarding the use of face masks to protect against the transmission of COVID-19.

This fact sheet explains how to safely put on and remove face masks. It also reinforces the importance of existing prevention measures including staying home if you have symptoms, physical distancing, hand hygiene and cough etiquette.

Wearing a face mask in Australia is recommended by health experts in areas where community transmission of COVID-19 is high, if physical distancing is not possible.
