EL1 Senior Project Officer, Acute Care Standards

The National Standards Program is responsible for the development and maintenance of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. This includes ongoing support and resource development for health services implementing the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, Pathology and Diagnostic Imaging Standards and National Safety and Quality Primary and Community Healthcare Standards.

The National Standards Program also provides a lead within the Commission on projects related to the development and maintenance of the Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation Scheme, accreditation for General Practice, pathology and diagnostic imaging, and primary and community health care.

The Senior Project Officer will be responsible for leading the work on the work plan deliverables for the development of the National and Safety and Quality Health Service Standards Third Edition. This will include project management, communications and consultations, research and analysis of information, stakeholder management, meeting logistics and facilitation, and collaborating with other relevant programs within the Commission.

Duties of the Senior Project Officer will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. With the Director, and Manager, Acute Care Standards, review, analyse and summarise published literature, data, policy papers and other published material to inform direction.
2. Undertake project management activities including project planning and documentation, implementation, monitoring and reporting on progress, providing risk management recommendations and identifying and resolving problems.
3. Engage with risk, including the conduct of risk assessment and risk management activities.
4. Consult with experts and stakeholders including development of consultation strategies and coordination of formal consultation processes to achieve the project’s objectives
5. Liaise, and foster productive working relationships with other agencies, clinical organisations, consumer groups, government authorities, professional and industry bodies and contractors.
6. Prepare high-quality written reports, briefs and other documents for a range of audiences.
7. Understand and keep knowledge of strategic and clinical issues and investigate how they may be addressed.
8. Undertake work activities with an awareness of their possible impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes of the project.
9. Collaborate with program areas across the Commission on matters related to the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
10. Participate in, and present to, committee meetings, forums and workshops
11. Provide secretariat support to the relevant committees and expert groups
12. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislative and reporting requirements, Australian and International standards, quality assurance procedures and best practice models.
13. Provide health informatics expertise
14. Other duties as required and directed.

The successful candidate will have:

• Excellent project management, policy development and high-level research and analytical skills and experience relevant to safety and quality.
• Demonstrated excellent writing skills, including the ability to write high quality documents for a variety of audiences and in different formats.
• Demonstrated highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, in particular, an excellent ability to consult and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as part of a small team.

Please note: This position will be offered in a hybrid model of office based (Sydney) and working from home, where operationally feasible. A regular weekly presence in the office is required.
