1. Why am I using Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste?

Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste contains the active ingredients sodium fluoride and potassium nitrate.

Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste is used for patients who have sensitive teeth and a high risk of dental decay (caries).

2. What should I know before I use Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste?

Warnings

Do not use Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste if:

  • you are allergic to sodium fluoride or potassium nitrate, or any of the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet. Always check the ingredients to make sure you can use this medicine.
  • your child is 6 years of age or less.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you:

  • have any other medical conditions
  • take any medicines for any other condition

During treatment, you may be at risk of developing certain side effects. It is important you understand these risks and how to monitor for them. See additional information under Section 6. Are there any side effects?

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should be cautious before using this product and discuss its use with their dental professional or doctor.

3. What if I am taking other medicines?

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including any medicines, vitamins or supplements that you buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure about what medicines, vitamins or supplements you are taking and if these affect Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste.

4. How do I use Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste?

How much to use

  • Adults and children 12 years and older: apply a thin ribbon of Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste to a soft, small headed toothbrush. Brush teeth thoroughly for 2 minutes. After use, spit out excess toothpaste.
  • For best results, do not eat, drink or rinse for 30 minutes afterwards.
  • If recommended for children between 7 and 12 years, use with adult supervision.

When and how to use Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste

  • Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste is easily applied to a toothbrush and should be used daily in place of regular fluoride toothpaste unless otherwise instructed by your dental professional or doctor.
  • Do not swallow the toothpaste. The toothpaste acts on the surface of your teeth and should not be swallowed.

If you use too much Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste.

If you think that you have used or swallowed too much Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste, you may need urgent medical attention.

You should immediately:

  • phone the Poisons Information Centre
    (by calling 13 11 26), or
  • contact your doctor, or
  • go to the Emergency Department at your nearest hospital.

You should do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning.

5. What should I know while using Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste?

Things you should do

  • If recommended for children between 7 and 12 years, use with adult supervision.
  • Remind any dental professional, doctor or pharmacist you visit that you are using Neutrafluor 5000 Sensitive Toothpaste.
  • Sensitive teeth may indicate an underlying problem that may need prompt care by a dental professional. See your dental professional if the problem persists.

Things you should not do

  • This toothpaste has been recommended specifically for you. Do not share this toothpaste with anyone else.

Looking after your medicine

  • Store below 25°C

Keep it where young children cannot reach it.

Getting rid of any unwanted medicine

If you no longer need to use this medicine or it is out of date, take it to any pharmacy for safe disposal.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date.

6. Are there any side effects?

All medicines can have side effects. If you do experience any side effects, most of them are minor and temporary. However, some side effects may need medical attention.

Allergic reactions have been rarely reported with the use of fluoride toothpastes. Should you experience an unwanted effect from using this product, you should stop using the product and consult your dental professional or doctor.
