Prioritise patient safety | Standards aim to support health services implement robust systems to prevent harm to patients. This includes areas such as infection prevention, medication safety, managing clinical deterioration, reducing adverse events and building a culture of safety. |
Build consumer trust and confidence | The implementation of Standards by health services provide assurance to patients that the organisation is committed to transparency and accountability, clear communication about health care needs and treatment options, respect their rights throughout the healthcare journey and include patients in governance and their own care. |
