Practice Reflections: COPD a quality improvement opportunity

From today 35,000 general practitioners are receiving a personalised Practice Reflections: COPD report by mail. This free initiative provides each eligible GP with a personalised, confidential report based on their own MBS data.

The individualised provider report highlights office-spirometry utilisation data in patients aged 35 years and above and provides a comparison with peers to support professional reflection.

Key opportunities include:

  • Quality improvement for providers to review office-spirometry data against their peers
  • Time spent on reviewing the report qualifies for CPD as a self-recorded activity
  • Reflective learning which aims to improve patient outcomes and alignment with best practice in diagnosis of COPD.

Explore the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Clinical Care Standard which provides guidance to clinicians on managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
