MedicineInsight is a free online platform that gives general practitioners key insights into their own prescribing and patient care patterns. Through MedicineInsight, you can compare patterns with other participating practices, receive customised recommendations and track data over time.

You have access to customised monthly practice reports on a primary health care priority area, and GP Reports at an individual practitioner level. These reports provide important evidence-based recommendations on medicines and treatments and can be used for continuing professional development.

MedicineInsight GP Snapshot: COPD
Provides essential data and practical insights to help GPs improve the diagnosis and management of COPD.
MedicineInsight CDP Guide: COPD 2025
Participating practices are offered COPD-focused quality improvement activities to align with best practice and identify key areas for improvement, benefiting patients. This activity can contribute to CPD requirements for participating GPs.
How to join MedicineInsight
MedicineInsight is free to join and available to all Australian practices.
You can complete an expression of interest form, email us directly, or reach out 8am-4pm Monday to Friday on 1300 721 726.
What you need to join
- Best Practice or Medical Director software
- Practice agreement signed by practice manager/principal (you can gain access to this once completing an expression of interest form)
- Data extraction tool installed on the practice server
Once you join
- Data are encrypted and extracted automatically after hours to not impact business operations
- Secure access is granted to Practice Manager for online reporting platform
- Optional: Secure access is granted to GPs for online reporting platform
How your data helps the system
Data from participating MedicineInsight practices is used to create valuable resources for general practitioners.
You can find a full list of program outputs including practice reports, GP Snapshots and research projects.
Any data shared or used is strictly non-identifiable and contributes to important medical research and improvements. Learn more about how we manage privacy, security and governance.
