Reporting obligations
As an Australian Government entity, we are required by the National Health Reform Act 2011, Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and other relevant legislation and general policy orders to report on certain activities within the business.
Australian Public Service Employee Census
Each year our staff participate in the Australian Public Service Employee Census.
Our agency highlights report includes key results from the census with comparisons to the previous year's results, to APS agencies of a similar size, and to an overall APS average.
Census report and action plan for 2025
The 2025 APS employee census was undertaken between 5 May 2025 and 6 June 2025. As part of our commitment to making the Commission an even better place to work, we are implementing an agency action plan to address areas where we can improve.

Senate Order for Entity Contracts Listing
The Senate Order for Entity Contracts, also known as the Murray Motion, requires government agencies to provide an updated listing twice a year that identifies contracts that are at or above the value of $100,000 (GST inclusive) and are active, or have been active, within the reporting period. This listing must also advise that the listed contracts do not contain any inappropriate confidentiality provisions. Each minister then tables a letter in the Senate outlining compliance with the Murray Motion for each agency in their portfolio.
Report period: 1 July 2025 – 31 December 2025
Pursuant to the Senate Order for entity contracts, the following table sets out contracts entered into by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (the Commission) that are at, or above, the value of $100,000 (GST inclusive) which are, or have been, active within the report period 1 July 2025 – 31 December 2025.
The Commission’s contracts for services contain confidentiality provisions of a general nature that are designed to protect the confidential information of the parties that may be obtained or generated in carrying out the contract. The reasons for including such clauses include:
Ordinary commercial prudence that requires protection of trade secrets, proprietary information and the like; and/or
Protection of other Commission material and personal information.
The Commission assures that the listed contracts do not contain any inappropriate confidentiality provisions.

Index List of Agency Files
The Senate agreed on 14 November 1994 to a motion by Senator Harradine requiring that each Minister table indexed lists of file titles created by Central Offices of each department or agency he or she administers.
The lists are to be tabled twice a year, once in the Spring sittings, comprising file titles created in the preceding July to December, and once in the Autumn sittings, comprising titles created in the preceding January to June.
The Order was varied by the Senate on 3 December 1998 and now requires:
- That each department and agency provide, on its internet home page, access to an indexed list of all relevant files created
- Tabling of a letter from the Portfolio Minister to the President of the Senate, advising that such indexed lists have been placed on the Internet.
In addition, under the terms of the order, "relevant files" include those relating to policy advising functions, the development of legislation and matters of public administration. Case related files, those related to internal administration of a Department or agency, and those files transferred to the Australian Archives, are specifically excluded.
