Venous Thromboembolism Prevention Clinical Care Standard Review

We are reviewing the Venous Thromboembolism Prevention (VTE) Clinical Care Standard (the Standard) to ensure it reflects current best practice and focuses on areas where improvement is most needed.

Your views will help us identify priorities for the review.

The Standard was first published in 2018 with a minor update in 2020. Since then, evidence, models of care, and system pressures have continued to evolve.

Share your feedback

We are inviting feedback on the VTE Prevention Clinical Care Standard (2020).

We are seeking input from clinicians, quality managers, and clinical and service leaders involved in VTE prevention.

All responses are valued, including from those who are not familiar with the current Standard.

This survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

The survey closes Friday 31 July 2026.

Take the survey

The Commission is also writing to organisations involved in VTE prevention, including peak bodies, professional colleges and societies, to obtain their feedback on the Standard.

Please contact the Clinical Care Standards team if you would like to know more.

About Clinical Care Standards

Clinical Care Standards support the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based care across Australia. Each Standard includes a small number of quality statements describing key aspects of care where improvement can lead to better outcomes, and indicators to support monitoring and quality improvement.

Resources for sharing

The following materials are available to help promote the survey. They can be used to share the survey link with clinicians, quality managers and clinical and service leaders. Organisations can use these resources to share the link with their members and networks.
