Purpose
To describe the requirement for accrediting agencies to submit an annual declaration relating to conflicts of interest.
Issue
Under the Commission’s Policy - Approval under the Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation (AHSSQA) Scheme to conduct accreditations of health service organisations using the Scheme’s standards 2019 (last amended 2021), issued by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (the Commission), all approved accrediting agencies are required to comply with conditions relating to the avoidance, declaration and management of conflicts of interest.
The specific requirements for avoidance, declaration and management of conflicts of interest as set out in the Policy – Avoiding and Managing Conflicts of Interest under the Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation Scheme 2020 issued by the Commission.
Requirements
Commencing from 1 July 2021, it is a condition of approval as an accrediting agency that in July each year an accrediting agency must complete and lodge the annual Declaration relating to conflicts of interest template.
Lodgement: The Declaration is to be signed by the Chief Executive Officer, or another senior officer of the accrediting agency duly authorised by the governing body of the accrediting agency.
The annual declaration together with any relevant documentation should be submitted electronically to AdviceCentre@safetyandquality.gov.au
