Our efforts aim to improve care for all Australians undergoing a colonoscopy, which can help prevent and detect bowel cancer.

Atlas Focus Report: Colonoscopy

This interactive national data report examines MBS-subsidised colonoscopy and repeat colonoscopy, including variation by socioeconomic disadvantage, remoteness and trends over time. The Report uses interactive maps and graphs to show trends at national, state and territory, PHN and local area levels.

Colonoscopy Clinical Care Standard (2025)

The updated Colonoscopy Clinical Care Standard (2025) was developed by the Commission, in partnership with health service organisations, clinicians and consumers. It describes the safe, appropriate and high-quality use of colonoscopy. See which organisations have endorsed the Standard.

Message 2

The new Atlas Focus Report: Colonoscopy from the @ACSQHC provides interactive national trend data on MBS-subsidised colonoscopy and repeat colonoscopy use.

The gap between areas with the highest and lowest colonoscopy rates is increasing. People in more affluent areas are accessing more colonoscopy, while people in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas are receiving fewer services.

The 10-year trend report examines rates at a national, state, PHN and local (SA3) area. Examine rates in your area.

Message 3

The @ACSQHC has released an updated Colonoscopy Clinical Care Standard (2025).

High-quality colonoscopy is crucial to prevent and detect bowel cancer.

The updated guidance emphasises sharing information and reports with patients, GPs and in the system, to support necessary follow-up.

See the CCS resources and use the new Self-Assessment Tool to review your implementation of the standard.
