Clarification on the Applicability of the POCT Guidance for Health and Aged Care

The draft POCT Guidance under consultation is intended solely for health and aged care service providers that conduct POCT within their services.

The draft POCT Guidance does not apply to APLs.

For APLs, requirements relating to POCT are addressed in Topic Eleven of the draft National Pathology Standard, which is specifically targeted to pathology laboratory operations.

APLs may disregard the draft POCT Guidance, as it is not relevant to APL accreditation requirements.
