Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to computer systems that can perform tasks that normally depend on human intelligence.

AI technology can synthesise information and generate content or make predictions, recommendations or decisions based on pattern recognition from large amounts of data.

AI is being used in healthcare to support a range of clinical and administrative tasks, such as generating clinical notes and enhancing medical imaging.

Like all new technology, AI can introduce new risks to patients if not applied thoughtfully and appropriately.

We have a range of resources and advice to support the safe and responsible use of AI in health care.
