We are developing the third edition of the Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare.
Soon we will be seeking your feedback on the revised clinical practice recommendations and new good practice statements to inform the development of the next edition.
Consultation will open Monday 31 August and close Tuesday 29 September 2026.
The Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare was jointly developed by the Commission and the NHMRC. The Guidelines, together with Commission guidance for specific organisms, provide healthcare workers and health service organisations with support to develop tailored local protocols and processes for infection prevention and control.
These guidelines support health service organisations to meet the infection prevention and control actions of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and the Preventing and Controlling Infections Standard.
