Consultation on the draft national safety and quality standards for virtual care

The Commission is developing draft national safety and quality standards for virtual care that will be released for public consultation in late October 2026.

Ahead of the release of the draft virtual care standards, the Commission is hosting a live webinar series to present the draft standards, explain the consultation approach, and encourage stakeholder feedback.

The webinars are open to healthcare professionals in all care settings, owners and managers of telehealth and virtual care services, as well as consumers, carers, researchers and policymakers.

Public consultation on the draft virtual care standards will open in late October 2026.

The draft virtual care standards build upon the National Model for Clinical Governance and are informed by the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (third edition).

They are supported by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, and the Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Ageing, and Minister for Disability and the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
