Today we opened our national public consultation to inform the future development of the third edition of the Guidelines. This is not a full revision of the publication.
The consultation focuses on the revised clinical practice recommendations for transmission-based precautions and new good practice statements for respiratory precautions, the appropriate use of alcohol-based hand scrub and the appropriate placement of handwashing basins.
How to provide feedback
You can shape the future of infection prevention and control guidance in Australia by:
- providing feedback via our online survey
- sharing the consultation resources with anyone in your network who may be interested.
Have your say on the proposed changes before our consultation closes on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.
These Guidelines help clinicians deliver safer care, protect themselves and their patients, and apply consistent, evidence-based infection prevention practices in everyday clinical work.
