Originally published in 2014 and updated in 2020, the Standard has an important role in supporting safe, high-quality care for patients across Australia who have an infection, or are at risk of an infection.

As part of this review, we are seeking input about the current Standard from clinicians, quality managers, and clinical and service leaders involved in antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) across all care settings relevant to the Standard.

Have your say

We invite you to complete a short survey by Friday 30 October 2026 to share your experience of antimicrobial stewardship, including:

  • current AMS practice
  • whether quality improvement priorities are reflected in the Standard.

Your feedback will help assess the need to update the Standard to ensure it is relevant, practical and aligned with contemporary care.

We encourage you to share this survey with colleagues and networks to help us gather broad clinical perspectives.

The Commission is also writing to organisations involved in antimicrobial stewardship, including peak bodies, professional colleges and societies, to obtain their feedback on the Standard. Please contact CCS@safetyandquality.gov.au if you would like to know more or have questions or feedback.
